Little Changes

We made some little changes to our lifestyle right away. We started making nutritious smoothies every morning and made an investment to buy a Vitamix. Yes, they are expensive, it is an investment! It blends everything up so much smoother than our other blender did. We got a pretty teal base with a BPA-free 64-ounce wet container that came with the 32-ounce dry container. The dry container is great for making your own flours, I make oat flour. It is easy to clean, and you can put it in the dishwasher. Mine came with some extras too, a Creations recipe book: 275 recipes and Whole Grains recipe book: 54 recipes. If you’re new to making smoothies, you can definitely buy a quality machine for less money, However, if your planning on making smoothies often like we do the price is well worth it!

You can try any combination of fruits and vegetables in the smoothies. Yes, even I can drink these smoothies and I do not eat any vegetables. A wonderful way for me to get the nutritional benefits of vegetables. We have several nutrient powders that we add to the blend either way, that include:

*Local Bee Pollen, you can find at your farmer’s markets. You can also find other bee pollens in stores or online. But, from what I have researched pollen from your local area is better.

I signed up for Grove Collaborative, they are an online company offering planet-friendly products. We thought that we needed to get rid of some household toxins, like cleaning products, beauty & personal care products. They also have baby & kids products and even natural pet care products. They have a monthly ordering, but you can skip as many months as you would like or need (I have, there have been months where I didn’t need anything or that I just didn’t have the extra cash). But, for the most part, I can usually find something that I will be in need of. I love that they send you plenty of reminders that your order is about to be placed so that you can make any adjustments. When you become a member you also score some free products throughout the year. They also price match any of their items, it is an easy process you take a picture of the cheaper item elsewhere and send it to them and they credit your account the difference, pretty cool! There’s not much to lose, it is $20 for the whole years membership. You can also try it free for 60 days! Click the link below for a free 5-piece gift set and get started!

I also joined Thrive Market, we use them more for healthy food, snacks, and supplements. I also buy the “tonics” that to me are like herbal tinctures, I love them! I use them for energy, immune, joy, and sleep. A great selection of herbal products. This is a nice option when you are looking for non-GMO and organic products you cannot find in the grocery store. Also, a lot of goodies without added sugars :). You can shop by your diet and restrictions too which is nice. Their membership is a little more at $60 for the year. However they offer a really neat program called Thrive Gives, it gives a paid membership for every membership that is purchased. We belong to Thrive Gives, it has been a wonderful experience to have access to these healthy options and without paying the membership fees. They offer a free 30-day trial and the price matching too!

It is a lot to completely change your whole lifestyle around. We started kind of small and looking back I wish we would have made more changes in the beginning, but it was a start and I can’t dwell on the past.
